SHADOW ALONG THE WALKWAY

I took this about seven months ago when my husband's cousin invited us to dinner in this floating resto along Maryknoll Drive here in Davao. Glad I was able to took at least few snaps because few months after this whole structure was torn down to give way to a bigger development.

GET A DIVORCE LAWYER

I was once asked if marriage has expiration. I think this is the only contract that has no expiration especially when you enter into it in this country, although there are thousand ways to kill a chicken, in this case there are only too few measures to exterminate it – it’s either you file for legal separation, annulment, or exterminate your partner, in which case the worst.

Unfortunately, divorce is an illusive word in the Philippine social set-up. Just in case you want to know the truth, we’re the only country in Asia that has no divorce law, good if you live somewhere in Arizona where you can effortlessly contract a divorce lawyer phoenix to dissolve your marriage.

But in this country – the relationship is gone, but the marriage is still there – whether you like it or not, you have to chew it.

POOR SPIDER IN THE SPOUT! ….

It rained hard the whole afternoon yesterday. Our water spout gave in due to the volume of water…

‘Mom, what’s gonna happen to the spider that went up the water spout?’
‘He’s one super spider son, if he’ll survive this pour’
‘Oh, poor spider, I think, it’s bye, bye spider now, is Mr. Sun coming yet?’
‘I’m not sure’

Indeed, as of writing … no signs of Mr. Sun coming, it's gloomy on this side of town.

DAVAO CITY’S PUBLIC SAFETY COMMAND CENTER

This is the corner fence of the nerve center of Davao City’s whooping P704-million Traffic Signalization Project. It is said that amongst the cities in the Philippines, Davao City has the most advanced and state-of-the-art Traffic Monitoring Center as it is patterned after the ones in Los Angeles, CA.
It has 17 CCTV cameras installed in the 16 main thoroughfares of the city with 35x zoom capabilities which provide clear visuals even in low-light conditions, like this one.

Dang! Since this camera (the ones on the first post) was placed here a year ago I’ve been crazy keen with colors above my head. Truth is, queuing at the LTO office can be another hardest day in my life.

NOSTALGIA

Photobucket
I kept grinning seeing this photo. I realized how terrible I looked in this garb. Pardon my mendacious act but I just snatched this without permission from a friend’s FB page. Hehehe. (Sorry Clint)

I’m actually some kind of courageous when it comes to fashion statement back in college - black polka dots top with a harmonizing solid black shorts, wahhhhhh! I actually didn’t think of Rajo Laurel back then, he didn’t exist yet and suppose he does he could have killed me. You lousy schoolgirl.
I’m actually some kinda socially involved back in college, as in cleaning the whole town, lol. This was during a Junior Jaycee community project - roaming around town picking someone else’s butt. If you want to know the truth, that’s how my extra-curricular activity was spent back then.

The other guys on this photo have settled for good too, I’m not so sure where exactly, but I’m certain we’re seeing the same sun and stayed on the same planet.

Anyway, thanks Rose for always giving me reason to update this blog. Join us again next Thursday for another round of Nostalgic Marveling. Click the badge above to join.

DAVAO’S WATERY PAST

Hello World! Happy Valentine's Day.. nothing fancy on this side of town. For a change, I'm having a blue Valentine ... lol.

I can't miss a link at Smiling Sally. So I'm sharing my blue today.

I took this sometime ago, just thought of sharing.

These giant shells are on display at Jack's Ridge Restaurant at shrine Hills this city, they were able to unearth this in the process of constructing the resto building ... it was believed that this part of the Earth was under water millions of years ago.

Here's what I have to deal with after my kids had read the stone slab.

Mom, ‘where have all the waters gone?’
Did Little Foot and the gang grow that fast, that they have slurped all the waters that receded that far?

I wonder too  if dinosaurs had wandered on this part of the world... lol.

Unbelievable as it may seem the land you are standing on was under the sea millions of years ago. These Taklobo shells right here at Jack’s Ridge are silent witness to Davao’s watery past.

a view of Davao City's CBD from where the shells are.

CHASED TO DEATH …

The what if …

If you’re familiar with the social atmosphere of Davao, you probably have heard about DDS or the imaginary Davao Death Squad, these were the alleged vigilantes or the motorcycle riding gun-men that moved around the city slaughtering the so-called ‘sagbot sa katilingban’ – literally translated –‘the weeds of society’.

Our authorities here strongly denied these allegations though, but one thing is certain - there are countless unsolved killings in this city involving ‘bad guys’, some conformists would say- a violation of human rights, but some would say ‘merese kay adik’.

Anyway, drawing from this premise, what if one day you’re being chased by a motorcycle riding gun-man.

What will you do?

Will you raise your hand and do the sign of the cross so Jesus would forgive you and accept your soul to heaven in case you’ll be bulleted to death?or

Will you take your camera and swiftly take opportunity of the moment before you finally stream your precious blood on the highway?

One could tell I picked out the latter.

INCREASE YOUR WEBSITE TRAFFIC

Cartoon Not Mine
When I started blogging I really never cared about the idea of getting a search engine optimization company or learn skills related to this to improve my blog's ranking, what I have in my mind was to share and empty it through this electronic pages and that's it, in fact, at first I really never cared whether someone is reading it or not.

But through time, when I get the handle of it and reaping the benefits of my day to day clicking, typing and all, I get to think about, 'so what I'm gonna do next?' Realizing that blogging present me more than self-gratification I began to at least build on some skills to get by. So, I learned how change template, how to add widgets, and eventually, how I'm gonna increase website traffic.

So now I employ my very limited blogging skill, that's when I started using advertising platforms, but then I realized advertising is not just enough, you get to optimize your blog, some call it ’organic search engine optimization’ to be on first string when someone searches on things related to your blog. In effect traffic to your website is natural or the so-called 'traffic from organic searches.'

To do this, you can contract a search engine optimization company or if you have an organic knack on how to do this then it's your lucky day. Oh, by the way, this skill in this industry is as essential as the air humans breathe.

I've been in this blogging art for more than a year already, but sad to say my skills are not yet at par as those who just eat peanuts doing this. Geez, an art, a skill I needed to build on more.

Tata, need to work on this art more.

NOSTALGIA

Such a toxic life I have lately, just wanna close my eyes and listen.

I’m doing this post almost in the middle of the night and I’m having goosebumps and some fretful feelings because as I write I think we’re hit by an earthquake, I can see my lampshade swinging. Yayks, it kills me every time there are natural phenomenon of this type, we live along the coast, tsunamis are slayers, gosh, I want to die quick and painless, lol.

Anyway, I think the rockin’s gone.. Thank goodness.. it’s a wonderful world..lol.

Thanks Rose for hosting this meme, join us again next week for another round of nostalgic marveling. (sorry di yata 'to nostalgia, current events, heheeh)

WHATEVER HAPPENS TO THIS COUNTRY

I was doing mommy chores today when I overheard from Bombo Radyo that Former Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Gen. Angelo Reyes has gunned down himself at a cemetery this morning. I had been stalking this AFP ‘Pabaon-pasalubong’ issue being investigated at both Houses since it broke out of media sometime ago. Just like any other ordinary Juana, I’m packed with eagerness too to know what really happened to those millions of dough that were believed to be pocketed by only few and significant people on the top brass of this organization.

But with Reyes’ death some things, some stories about this controversy may possibly be left unanswered. I just thought this issue really is more than what it seemed to be as it has taken its toll even the toughest man, if I may say such, in this country.

Whatever happens to this nation state, to the investigation, I wish his death would serve as a loud message to everyone as to what precise it may be relevant, that this corruption culture whether you’ve participated or not had ruined, not only this person’s life, but the entirety of this nation.

God bless the Philippines.

STAR SHADOW

The kids aunts were on day-off today, so they went playing with them making shaky star shadow ... as the instructions were given on what to do, some listen, some don't....
and the most excruciating part, letting those little fingers do the 'peace sign'.
someone was supposed to shake the basin to make it a shaky star, but nobody would, the photographer can only do one thing at a time. lol!
So they end up doing it non-shaky anymore. Although not a perfect star... I guess it's a perfect star shadow.

WHAT $10,500,000.00?

Just some short notes I wanted to share… I got this from my email today.

FUNDS INHERITANCE

I am Mrs. Sarah Johnson A dying woman who had decided to DONATE the sum of $10,500,000.00 to you as my next of kin for charity work contact my lawyer, Name Garry Moore: barr_teddywilliam09@hotmail.com

If only this is true, I would make a statue for you Mrs. Johnson, as tall as the Statue of Liberty, in styro. Wow, how can people be so deceiving?

Anyway, I might have a greater chance with ‘last two’ …. Number bi! LOL.

DREAMING OF A CARIBBEAN VACATION

I just watched this documentary-a travel show on a local t.v. channel here featuring the Caribbean islands. I think I had my mouth opened the whole time the show was airing, it just awed me while watching this resort in the caribbean they were showing.

The Caribbean Sea is an area with with diverse culture, different foods, amazing sights, soft white sands and serenity, the beauty of it all, my goodness it really makes one yearn for a caribbean vacation. I'm dreaming too that one day I'll spend some time on one of those islands, but that is when I'll get lucky in tonight's lotto draw.

But kidding aside, while the travel show featured Cayman Islands in the western Caribbean, I think any island in the Caribbean would do just fine. This area is another distinct paradise on earth. I tell you! One should visit this place before the final curtain call of your life and experience the best this planet has to offer.

If you have all the extras in the world, there's no reason why you should wait for anything else and if I were you, I would book a flight and find a beautiful resort in caribbeanwaters and enjoy life and witness one of the best sunsets imaginable.

Tata, let's get packing.

NOSTALGIA

Photobucket
Gosh, I felt like it’s been a hundred years since I last updated this blog, honest, I wonder why homo sapiens were created with just two limbs and two hands when they got so complex a brain that works like hell, thinks more than the hands and the feet can accomplish. Anyway, thank goodness to these consolation lines, ‘the flesh is willing but the spirit is weak’. Forgive my dreaminess, maybe you can take it as someone writing with so much at hand.

Anyway, wow, it’s Nostalgia time, thanks to Rose I’m always prodded to write something even if my brain is not working, lol.

I just accidentally stumbled on this photo while I was scavenging for some materials my son needed for a project at school. I was laughing like a hyena when I actually saw these, my god! I was this lean during the heyday of my youth, nyahahahah! I can’t exactly recall why we were here at this golf driving range, this is in Maa here in Davao, I don’t play golf, I can’t understand the thrill of striking all those white stuff and walk like hell under the scorching sun with caddies bringing those damn heavy umbrellas, well I understand what  those golf terms mean though, but for goodness sake, lemme just play ‘jolens’.

This guy here is Ramil, I wonder where the god of heavens has put him now, I attended his wedding but after his wife bore sons and daughters of his I lost contact, he maybe on FB though, but I just use that Zuckerberg stuff to like sites for giveaways…. How gross! ... Anyway, I just realized now, it always pay to live a life.

But the way things are now, am I living a life?

Ang pangutana nga nagtangag sa dakong ganti!
